A preparatory meeting was held in Riyadh today, Tuesday 5/1/2016 at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council for their excellencies the undersecretaries or their deputies of anti-corruption entities in the GCC countries.
The meeting addressed a number of issues related to the protection of integrity and fighting corruption in the GCC countries, including foundations and operational mechanisms for the resolution of the supreme council of the Arab Gulf States Cooperation Council in its 34 session on the subject of voluntary work, and the project of the Arab Gulf States Cooperation Council for the promotion of integrity and fighting corruption, and to identify specialties of the GCC in the UNCAC. In addition, it will address the mechanisms for implementing the guiding principles for the exchange of experiences in between anti-corruption entities in the GCC.
The meeting also discussed the recommendations of the workshop carried out by the State Audit Institution in Oman on the corruption Perception Index released by Transparency International, and the recommendations of the seminar carried out by the National Anti-Corruption Commission (Nazaha) in Saudi Arabia on the role of awareness programs in promoting integrity, and the proposals of the anti-corruption entities in GCC countries.
The recommendations will be submitted to the heads of these anti-corruption entities in the GCC countries in the next meeting which will be held in February for approval.
