Next Wednesday under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Third International Nazaha Conference (Protecting Integrity and Fighting Corruption in Privatization Programs)

Under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Third International Nazaha Conference, organized by the National Anti-Corruption Commission (Nazaha) will be launched next Wednesday, 4 April 2018 entitled (Protecting Integrity and Fighting Corruption in Privatization Programs) at the Rafal Kempinski Hotel in Riyadh.
On this occasion, H.E. Dr. Khaled bin Abdulmohsen Al-Muhaisen, President of the National Anti-Corruption Commission, expressed his great appreciation and gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, for sponsoring this conference. As part of the continuous support that the Commission receives from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to carry out its responsibilities in order to achieve his directions and aspirations.
Al-Muhaisen pointed out that the conference is part of Saudi Arabia's continuous efforts in the field of protecting integrity and fighting corruption at the local and international levels in line with its vision 2030. The Kingdom is keen to involve the international community in enhancing efforts to contribute to the protection of integrity and fighting corruption, and to benefit from the experiences of other countries and international organizations.
On his part, H.E Dr. Bandar bin Ahmed Abalkhail, Vice-President of the National Anti-Corruption Commission for the Protection of Integrity, expressed his sincere gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for his patronage of the 3rd International Nazaha Conference.  He pointed out that Nazaha has endless support from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and HRH the Crown Prince. He also highlighted the importance of convening such a conference for discussing significant topics such as the role of privatization programs In the protection of integrity.
H.E. said that the theme of this conference comes in line with the phase in which the Kingdom is living now to achieve its vision (2030), which has made these programs one of its priorities. The Kingdom started implementing many programs including privatization and the commission is working on achieving its objectives in this field  to benefit from global experiences and practices through the organization of conferences on transparency, integrity and anti-corruption, to ensure the success of such national programs and projects.

It is worth mentioning that the conference aims to achieve a number of objectives, including: raising awareness of the importance of protecting integrity and fighting corruption, discussing the risks of corruption and appropriate preventive measures, exchanging experiences and benefiting from local and international applications, and discussing the impact of privatization programs in reducing corruption practices.
The Conference will host 36 experts and experts in the field, topics and themes of the conference from within and outside the Kingdom: protecting integrity in privatization programs, fighting corruption in privatization programs and international experiences in privatization programs. The conference program will include six sessions and three workshops.
H.E Dr. Khalid bin Saleh Al Sultan, Rector of King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, will be the first keynote speaker and it is moderated by H.E. Dr. Ahmed Bin Mohammed Al Jumah, Professor of Journalism at the College of Media and Communication at Imam Muhammad Bin Saud Islamic University.
The second keynote speaker will be H.E Eng. Mohammed Bin Hamad Al Madhy, President of the General Establishment of Military Industries, and it is moderated by H.E Dr. Fayez bin Abdullah Al Shehri, Member of the Shura Council.
The first session will be entitled: Protecting Integrity in Privatization Programs, which will cover the following topics: corruption risk assessment, ways to strengthen preventive measures, the role of competent entities in following up the privatization process, the efficiency of laws, policies and procedures, and the role of civil society institutions and the media. Speakers of this session will be: Dr.Nikolas Kirby, Blavatnik School of Government, Pof. Stephane Francois Straub Professor in economics, University of Toulouse, Prof. Berhanu Mengistu, Professor at Old Dominion University- Norfolk, Dr. Ibrahim Adel Sheera, Director General of Projects and Operational Excellence at the National Center for Privatization, H.E. Saud Ahmed Alhmad, Vice Public Prosecutor for Investigation, Her Royal Highness Princess Banderi bint Abdulrahman AlFaisal, Head of King Khalid Foundation, Dr. Shujaa Sultan Al-bugami, Assistant Professor in the College of Communication and Media, Imam Mohammed bin Saud Islamic University, Dr. Fahad bin Abdulaziz Alaskar, professor of Communication at Imam Muhammed bin Saud Univesirty.
 Keynote speaker of day two of the conference will be Dr. Christopher MacKee, Chief Executive at The PRS Group. The session will be moderated by Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Hizan, Member of the Shura Council.
First session of day 2 entitled Fighting Corruption in Privatization Programs. It will discuss the possible corruption crimes in privatization programs, ways of detecting corruption crimes in privatization programs and dealing with them, addressing the effects of corruption crimes in privatization programs and means of recovering assets. Speakers will be: Mr. Ali Bin Mohammed Al Qarni, Director of Public office Crime department, Public Prosecution , Mr. Quentin Reed, Independent anti-corruption Consultant, Mr. Tarik Haddad, Partner in PwC Verification and Dispute department, Mr. Pablo Jose Serra Professor in Economics, University of Chile, Ms. Meshael Alrsheed, Director of Business development in the Ministry of Labour and Social Development, Dr. Abdulaziz Abdullah Alnasser, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice for international Cooperation and Laws, Ms. Karin Grudd, Detective Inspector and Financial Investigator at National Operations Department- Stockholm, Sweden, Dr. Nouf Bint Abdulaziz Al Ghamdi, Economic and Regional Development Advisor
The second session of second day of the conference entitled: International Experiences in Privatization Programs, in which Dr. Fayez bin Abdulhadi Ben Ahmed, Head of Economics Department of the Modern Academy of Computer Science and Management Technology in Egypt, and Mr. Stephen Beatty, Chairman of Global Infrastructure at KPMG, Mr. Bradly Watson, Regional Practice Leader, Middle East & North Africa at Ernst & Young- Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Mr. Ibrahim Ahmed Albassam, Senior Manager Partner, Pkf Albassam & Co , and Ms. Laury Haytayan, Acting MENA Manager at the Institute of Natural Resources Governance Institute (NRGI). The session will be moderated by Dr. Abdulaziz bin Mas'ad Al-Wathaini, Head of Accounting Department, Faculty of Business Administration, Al-Faisal University, and an economic writer.
Nazaha will hold three workshops specialized in the field of the protection of integrity and fighting corruption. The first is: the risks of privatization and fighting corruption. It aims to discuss the risks, and ways to deal with them through a number of topics including; examine the relationship between privatization and corruption from the perspective of public opinion, the effects of corruption on economic reform programs, and how corruption affects the prices of privatized assets, presented by Dr. Christopher McKee, Chief Executive at The PRS Group.
The second workshop entitled (Strengthening research and studies in the field of protection of integrity and fighting corruption). It discusses a number of topics including Role of research and studies in fighting corruption, best scientific methods used in the analysis of the causes of corruption and methods of dealing with it, and future visions of academic and research entities in the field of protection of integrity and fighting corruption. The workshop is presented by Prof. Berhanu Mengistu, University of Old Dominion, and Prof. Seid Hassan, Murray State University.
Workshops conclude with a workshop entitled: Applying Compliance in the private sector, which aims at discussing ways of implementing compliance and functional commitment, through a number of topics including: reviewing experiences in applying compliance, procedures and mechanisms to promote compliance, and proposing a number of future visions. This workshop is presented by General Manager of Internal Audit Department at the Capital Market Authority, Mr. Dhari alshimmery, Mr. Amir Mughram Alhoutan, Director of Megaprojects Audit Department at Saudi Aramco.
