Nazaha revealed, based on a report it received, that a number of irregularities and corruption aspects in a construction project of (33) residential buildings belong to the Saline Water Conversion Corporation in the west coast with the cost of (230) Million riyals.
The spokesman of Nazaha Abdulrahman Al-Ajlan said that the Saline Water Conversion Corporation signed a contract of (230) million riyals with two contracting companies to execute a (33) residential buildings in four different locations.
Al-Ajlan added that the commission sent a team of specialists to visit the sites and investigate and make sure that the report is legitimate. The commission found out a number of irregularities and corruption aspects, and tampering with legal papers, where new provisions were added which were not originally in the bill of quantities. And an order of change was issued including (13) residential buildings in other locations which were not included originally in the contract. And that made savings from the cancellation and amendments process in the provisions of the bill of quantities which is considered as a major breach of the competition and equality of opportunities in between competitors, this is violation of article (1) of the government competition and procurement.
Al-Ajlan also said that the commission has reported this to his majesty the king based on the commission’s regulation and it referred the case to the relevant entities.
