Under the patronage of HRH Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Prime Minister -may Allah protect him-, Saudi Arabia represented by the Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority hosts the First Ministerial Meeting of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Agencies in the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which the organization is holding in Jeddah on 20-21 December 2022. On this occasion, H.E. President of the Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority expressed his great appreciation and gratitude to HRH Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, and Prime Minister - may Allah protect him - for his patronage of this meeting. H.E. added that this meeting affirms the pioneering role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the Islamic world, and the keenness of the leadership to strengthen Islamic cooperation among Member States in various fields, including combating corruption. H.E. indicated that this meeting will discuss the adoption of Makkah Al-Mukarramah Convention, one of Saudi Arabia’s initiatives that will establish a new phase in combating corruption at the regional and international levels; as it is the first of its kind and will facilitate cooperation in the field of combating corruption among Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which is considered the second largest international organization after the United Nations, with 57 members. This convention will support efforts in the field of protecting integrity and promoting the principle of transparency and combating corruption to aid in achieving more progress and prosperity in our Islamic societies. This meeting stems from Saudi Arabia’s keenness to activate its international initiatives aimed at combating corruption in participation with the international community in efforts to protect integrity and combat corruption, and exchange experiences with other countries and international organizations. It is worth noting that Heads and representatives of anti-corruption law enforcement agencies in the member states of the OIC will participate in the meeting, in addition to several international organizations, including the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), and the Egmont Group of Financial Intelligence Units, as well as several experts in the field of protecting integrity and combating corruption from inside and outside the Kingdom.
